In 2003 I joined a video game called Star Wars Galaxies (made and distributed by Sony Online Entertainment, link at the bottom left). It's what's called an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) RPG (Role Playing Game). In this game you can basically play a character and go on adventures in the Star Wars universe. You can meet Jabba the Hutt, take missions from Darth Vader, bow to Princess Leia and even hang out Luke Skywalker.

While playing this game I stumbled across a class of people who were making films and using the game as the basis for these films. They filmed them as regular movies, and edited them together using various programs. Sometimes they were set to music, sometimes they were just scenes for comedy and a few laughs. But many of them used Star Wars Galaxies as their set, props and the characters within as their actors, and they produced some very well done pieces of gaming cinema. After a bit of research, I decided to try my hand at it, and I discovered that I had a knack for making videos. Quality, of course, is up to the beholder, but I believe one day with enough practice I can make a career out of this hobby in terms of video editing, or even in making some short films of my own.

All videos from Star Wars Galaxies are produced with a program called FRAPS, which can be obtained at www.fraps.com. There is a small donation charge for this wonderful program, and it is definitely worth the price for anyone seeking to do gaming movies.

I am also expanding out some of my projects, which I will update here occasionally.

I hope you enjoy some of the videos from this site, and please feel free to send me commentary on the videos presented here to LegalMinn@mn.rr.com
